Rooms at the mill
Twelve rooms sit above the granary, held for family and for anyone travelling more than four hours. Say so in your RSVP and we will pass your name straight to the mill.
Saturday, the thirteenth of June
We are getting married at Ashcote Mill, and we would very much like you there — orchard, barn, long tables, and a band that plays far too loudly.
Reply to the invitationThe invitation
“We met over a broken bicycle and a borrowed spanner, and we have been fixing things together ever since. The ceremony is small and seated; everything after it is not. Come hungry, wear something you can dance in, and stay until the coaches leave.”
Mara Delacroix & Jonah Current
Order of the day
These are the real times, not the polite ones. If you are running late, the ceremony is the only part we cannot hold for you.
2:00 pm
Gates open into the orchard. Elderflower, cider, and something cold for the drivers. Please be seated in the barn by ten to three.
3:00 pm
Thirty minutes in the mill barn. Two readings, one short vow each, and a cellist who has promised not to improvise.
3:45 pm
Group photographs on the mill steps take roughly twenty minutes. Everyone else is loose in the orchard with trays circulating.
5:30 pm
Four courses, served family style down the centre of the granary. The seating plan is pinned to the barn door — find your name before you find the bar.
7:30 pm
Three of them, strictly timed. Coffee and the cheese table arrive at the same moment, which is not a coincidence.
8:30 pm
A five-piece from nine until late, with a slower set somewhere around eleven. The bar in the wheel room stays open throughout.
11:45 pm
Bacon rolls at midnight. Coaches leave the top gate at 12:15 am and 12:45 am — the later one waits for stragglers.
The venue
A working watermill until the 1950s, now three linked buildings set around a walled orchard. The ceremony is in the stone barn, dinner is in the granary, and the bar stays in the old wheel room where the floor is uneven and the ceiling is lower than you expect.
The ground between the buildings is part cobbled and part grass. It is flat, lit after dusk, and step-free from the top gate through to both the barn and the granary.
Travel & staying over
The mill sits at the end of a single-track lane, so we have put coaches on. If you would rather drive, cars can be left overnight and collected before eleven on Sunday morning.

In the village
A pub with eight rooms, ten minutes from the mill by coach. They are held under our names until the end of April, after which they go back on general sale.
Coaches
Seats are counted straight from the RSVP form, so tell us which coach you want.
A little of it
A note on gifts
We have lived together for six years and own an unreasonable number of mugs. You being there is genuinely the whole thing. If you feel strongly about it, there will be a small box beside the bar for the walking holiday we keep postponing — but nobody is counting, and nobody will know.
Questions
Garden formal. Suits without the tie, a dress you can sit down in. The orchard is grass and the yard is cobbled, so block heels or flats will serve you far better than anything narrow. The evening drops cool once the sun goes behind the mill, so bring a layer.
Children named on your invitation are very welcome, and there is a quiet room with camp beds off the granary from eight o'clock onwards. We have not been able to extend it beyond those named, purely because of the seat count in the barn.
If your invitation names two people, yes. If it names only you, we are afraid not — the barn takes eighty seated, and we ran out of room long before we ran out of people we love. Put their name in your RSVP anyway and we will tell you if anything frees up.
Any time from two o'clock, and be seated in the barn by 2:50 pm. The registrar begins at three regardless and the doors close, so anyone late will be waiting in the orchard until around half past.
Not during the ceremony — phones away for those thirty minutes, please. After that, take as many as you like. We will share one link for everybody's photographs about a week after the day.
Not at all. The menu has a vegetarian main as standard, and the kitchen can cover vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and most allergies. Write it into the RSVP box and be specific; the caterer works from exactly what you type.
There is a field at the top gate with room for about forty cars, and yes — leave it overnight and collect it before eleven on Sunday. The lane in is single-track with passing places, so allow ten minutes more than you think you need.
The bar closes at 11:45 pm, bacon rolls come out at midnight, and the two coaches leave the top gate at 12:15 and 12:45. Anyone staying in the granary rooms is welcome to keep going in the wheel room afterwards, quietly.
RSVP
One reply per invitation. If your invitation named two of you, a single form covers you both — just say so in the party size.
Replies close on Friday 1 May 2026. After that the seating plan goes to the printer and the caterer stops taking changes.
